Here, have some free music and butterflies

It’s been too long since my last video, so here are two new covers for you all. I waited to record these until my new camera arrived, and the difference is amazing. The sound and video quality blow the iPhone out of the water. These are in full HD with prime lighting and acoustics. Be sure to like, comment, and subscribe to my YouTube channel—I have a bunch of upcoming stuff I can’t wait to share with you! Feel free to download the songs from my SoundCloud page as well. It’s free!

Avicii – Fade Into Darkness (Full Song)

This is EDM superstar Avicii’s hit Fade Into Darkness. It is actually the first electronic/dance song I arranged for the piano, though not the first I’ve uploaded (that distinction goes to Last Chance by Kaskade & Project 46 from last time). Putting it together was a blast. I think this song is relatively easy to transcribe for the piano compared to more exotic electronic music—just wait until you hear the Deadmau5 songs I’m working on! Let me know what you think!

Kaskade & Project 46 – Last Chance

This song was lot of fun to put together. It is actually unreleased as of yet—I first heard it in Kaskade’s set at Ultra Music Festival and knew that I had to cover it. This is the first electronic/dance song I’ve done, and I really enjoyed taking on a new genre. I’m the first cover on YouTube!

Artists you need to know: Electronic Dance Music

Welcome to Part I of The Weekly Show’s Artists You Need to Know! In this segment I will feature music by highly talented, often little-known artists from a sampling of genres. The goal is to provide you all with some great music while giving these artists the exposure they deserve. As always, please like, share, and subscribe if you enjoy these posts, and feel free to leave artists you like in the comments section below! This week’s genre is Electronic Dance Music.

EDM, Concert, Laser, Strobe, Lights

A concert to remember.

Electronic dance music: isn’t that them newfangled computer sounds?

Today dance giants such as David Guetta and Avicii dominate the charts, but electronic dance music (EDM) has come a long way since its inception. From obscure beginnings in regional nightclubs and raves in the 1970s, synthesized music broke into mainstream culture around the turn of the century. While most EDM builds off of traditional scale patterns and chords, more unconventional tones and pitches (think drops and screeches) remain rather polarizing among listeners. If you are unfamiliar with the genre, give it a listen and see what you think! Leave your thoughts in the comments section below!

4. KapSlap

Currently a senior at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, KapSlap’s name is quickly spreading across college campuses. He is popular for his remixes and mashups, and he plans to release his first album after he graduates. I find his music great for the gym or going on long runs. You can download many of his songs for free on his SoundCloud page.

A little night music

Fans of The Weekly Show have mentioned that videos are often the most interesting part of a post. In light of this, here are three videos I recorded last week. These are songs I have been working on for a few months now. Enjoy!

Here’s to a little night music.

Don’t Stop Believing – Journey

This song probably does not need an introduction. The hardest part was definitely figuring out how to accentuate the verses while maintaining the noticeable parts of the melody and bass, hence the frequent crossovers.

The power of sound

Sound. It envelopes us. We use it as a tool to communicate with one another and evaluate our surroundings. Sometimes a sound can trigger our emotions. We hear; we laugh. We listen; we cry. Sound holds a mysterious power over us, one we barely understand.
